Advice on used Volvo purchase

We are thinking about buying a 1998 Volvo S70 from our neighbor. The seller has been very upfront about what repairs he has made and what repairs will need to be made. The car looks great and has 111,000 miles on it. The price is $2000 which sounds really good, but we are concerned about the repair costs that will be coming in the future. I can take it to a reputable Volvo repair shop for a pre-purchase inspection. Does this purchase sound like a good deal? Any advice would be appreciated.
