If it's greater than .025" the clutch won't engage when the ambient temperature gets in the 90's. It will only get worse. The proper way to fix it is to remove the clutch faceplate and remove shims until the gap is around 0.015". Plastic or metal shims can be inserted in the clutch plate to close the gap but I think that's only a temporary fix. Search for instructions on AC clutch fix.
