My AC blew hot air last year with the same symtoms as yours. I thought it needed to be charged or serviced. I needed to replace my radiator this spring and when I did my AC has been working perfect since. The old radiator was very plugged up so no air was flowing through it. I was very suprised once i saw it that my car wasn't overheating all the time. I was lucky it went when it did I think.
