ABS Module problems V70-XC70 2001

Forgive me if I am dragging up another old dead horse! I have not been on this
forum much lately because (frankly) I don't think I am very much help here.

My 2001 V70T5 started occasionally having the ABS light come on and messages about the STC
and ABS requiring service appeared concurrently in the message window. This was
an intermittent thing, sometimes happening upon hitting a bump, then later it
would be OK when I would start the engine another time. Since it affected the cruise control
(which I use a lot to avoid speeding tickets) I elected to go to the "Volvos at the Gilmore II"
meet in the S60T5 instead, and before I left, I pulled the ABS module from the V70T5 and shipped it to Module Masters.
BTW If you missed the meet at the Gilmore (Near Kalamazoo) you missed a great meet in a great venue!
When I got back there was a slip from the post office in my mail and I picked up the package this morning.
I installed the module today and now rather than being intermittently nonfunctional, it is continuously nonfunctional.
In accordance with their directions I called them up. They were pretty nice and checked their info
but concluded that my module may not be repairable, so they are giving me a refund.
That is nice but what I really need is a functional module.
VADIS calls out P/N 8619544 for the module. That number does not appear on my module. What does appear on my module is the following:
ATE/Volvo Controller
Control Unit ABS/STC
9496946 6840
10.0949-0420.3 346982
OWROC13H03 OOW111

I guess my questions are,
1. If Module Masters doesn't think it is repairable, is it likely that anyone else
can fix it?
I talked to a Canadian company that offered to fix it for $299, which is more than twice
what Module Masters charges. Maybe I should talk to them again?
2. Any chance of finding a good one in a salvage? There are mighty few Volvos in salvages around here.
3. Anybody got one they'd like to sell?
I see that a person named "Victor" is mentioned. Is his company the one in Canada? If not, how can I get in touch with him?

Any help will be most gratefully appreciated!
