last visit: Wed Sep 30 00:25 CST 2009[RELATED]y consider the rear only? just wondering. if u can do the suspension work urself...it's no big deal...especially the rear..since the shock is mounted separately from the spring. but if u don't...u may wanna try do it at once...saves on installation costs, oh, and don't forget to replace the strut mounts, shock mounts, and spring mounts... these can make some difference in a lousy ride vs isolated ride as well...

I am already planning on replacing the rear shocks. Last summer I had to replace the rear shock mounts because they were both completely shot and poking against the bottom of the wagon interior floor, so I know how to do everything on the rear. I think it was because I had it overloaded w/o the overload springs when I drove from Seattle to New Jersey. I am now looking at making the same trip next month and don't want the same problem.
I purchased the IPD overload springs and Bilstein heavy duty shocks for the rear, and Bilstein heavy duty struts for the front as well. I'll do the rears myself, but I am not sure if I'll do the front or take it someplace.

Replacement is usually determined by a combination of miles and how loaded it is and how often. Springs lose there effectiveness over time (and exposure to elements...like salt, etc). Usually if it has been over 100K and you carry people all the time/cargo they will be ready for replacement...but not necessary. If it looks like it is hanging lower, that could give indication too.
