This car has, over the last 18 months or so, had four (4) occasions where it would not start after driving & then stopping (at the gas station, at the mall, at the grocery store). However, after waiting 2-5 minutes AFTER the initial "won't start", it would start & then behave properly for months. I have checked the battery voltage (12.36V) after 15-20 minutes of the engine running, which seems to be normal / average voltage. However, the Volvo doesn't want to crank / turnover....any ideas out there? Thanks for reading! Loosen the ground on the battery, then without removing it, turn it back and forth a few times. Tighten it back up. Do the same with the positive cable. Note if there is any corrosion at the battery posts and cables. If so, clean them off with a wire brush and enter the code on the radio. There is also a remote possibility that the wiring at the starter is loosening up. A little harder to get to, but you will need to check the connections. Just make sure you disconnect the battery before fiddling with the starter connections - the wires are hot at all times. Klaus -- Proud owner of a 220S. If I had more room, I would have more Volvos. If you measure alternator output at the battery you should see 13.8v or more depending on the state of battery charge. Have you cleaned the battery terminals and inspected the cable fittings for corrosion in the connector..?? Also check the battery ground cable connection to the car. If you want more info on batteries, charging and TS problems, see if you can locate the on-line site "Battery University" .
