last visit: Fri Nov 20 15:54 CST 2009[RELATED]If check engine light is on there is fault code what was it, did they tell you? If not ask. If they can't or won't tell you go to any auto store such as Advance and they can pull the code. I doubt the ECC unit failed just by changing the battery.
I would never consider a new unit, get one from a wrecker and have the dealer plug it in (about 30 seconds) and re-enter a few parameters from their VADIS system, just a few more minutes.

last visit: Tue Aug 11 14:30 CST 2009[RELATED]MMMMMMMMMM..the dealer is right about the unit being mated to the car..a use or new one will require a software load to recognize the replacement...did you check all your fuses, under the hood, in the truck and on the drivers side dashboard ..

last visit: Thu Sep 17 11:02 CST 2009[RELATED]I checked all the fuses, they are all good. i also checked the power and ground wires going to the unit. i think 3 in total and they were ok.
then there are also communication wires too that can turn it on i think.
its looking like i am gonna have to replace it. should a try a used one first?
if it dont work, then ill have to burn for the shipping chrages.

last visit: Tue Aug 11 14:30 CST 2009[RELATED]When you replace a battery on the S80, there are procedures you must do when you install the new battery...Did you tell the dealer you replaced the battery ?...Dont buy anything from this guy if he knew you replaced the battery..Turn off car..Disconnect the pos + cable from the battery..leave it off for 10-15 mins..Insert the key and turn to position II, reconnect pos + cable to battery..remove key and lock and open car doors using the POD...start car, turn on blower fan only,go from slow to hi speed and back to slow to off..open n close sun roof,now turn on A/C and blower fan and drive car for about 10-20 mins..

What does POD stand for?
the whole control unit does not work. the fan, the lights, switches, everything does not work. you said to turn the fan switch on, the fan will not work, because the switch has noo power
can I put a used control unit in this car?
the dealer said it is mated to the cars and if i put a used one in it would not work cause it is mated to the car it came from.
