last visit: Sat Nov 21 15:09 CST 2009[RELATED]If you are in the habit of letting the handle automatically shut off, and then adding another gallon - STOP! The excess liquid will be in places you don't want it and proper venting will not occure. The fix is to drive with the tank at 3/4 maximum for a couple of fillups until the lines dry up.

last visit: Sat Nov 21 00:32 CST 2009[RELATED]Thanks for the reply - but that's not the problem.
The problem is that the car won't take more than a gallon before the fuel overflows, even if I'm filling it from empty.
I've now learned that there's a service bulletin for this problem... which doesn't help. Just asserts that there's a problem I already know about.
sigh. I like the old ones much better than these new ones.
Thanks again -

It takes about 2 tankfuls of gasoline to completely empty the charcoal filter of liquid gasoline. I have had this happen to my V70, and not overfilling curred it.

last visit: Sat Nov 21 00:32 CST 2009[RELATED]I don't have the TSB, so I can't post it - I learned of it from one of the good folks at ipd. Something to do with a vent flap that lives in or near the fuel filling tube. According to Volvo, all I need to fix it is a hose clamp.
My charcoal filter isn't full of gasoline - the issue I'm having isn't related to overfilling the tank.
If anyone knows what to do with the hose clamp, I'd love to hear it!
Thanks --
