FYI
I have been in contact with Erie Volvo (erievovo.com) about sourcing a bevel gear.
I am not sure I need one or not yet, but I wanted to know where I could find one and the costs associated if I did need one.
I happened to pose the inquiry in a way that led the responder to comment on which bevel gears will fit for my car, and he said that the 1998 and early 1999 AWD cars have a different bevel gear than the 2000+.
Here's the quote from their email:
"THEY WILL ONLY FIT 1998 AND EARLY 1999 MODELS ,00 IS A DIFFERENT GEAR RATIO AND WILL NOT WORK"
