Wrapping the chain around the control arm and driveshaft is rather unimpressive, but I've seen worse. You would be surprised--trust me on this--at how resistant cars are to being dragged here and there for towing purposes. Things that get broken are already broken, IMO (but perhaps they don't know it yet) There are numerous potential causes for this noise. Tire noise, bearing noise, differential noise, transmission noise. CV shaft? Probably not.
