S80 T6 Plugs Part Number correct???[S80/2000] posted by jlfox on

I just purchased a set of Volvo plugs for a S80T-6. May I ask one of the techs on the board to verify if they are correct? The set is number 8642661 and the plugs (three prong) are P/N 9146775. I am unsure because the package reads as follows:
"960, S/V90, S80 91-> 6 - cyl. exl. turbo, B280E/F"
I don't know what exl. means (excluding?) and I've always read on this board that 3 prong plugs are not for turbos.
The parts man mentioned that this new number substitution was shown in his parts information. Should I use these plugs? TIA, JLFox

You are right. 3 prong plugs are for non turbos. Turbo plugs are single prong, double platinum. And yes, "exl." means excluding. Note. The hose clamps on the turbo ducting usually break when you try to loosen them. Either buy all new clamps when you exchange the plugs, or try this procedure. Loosen the screw on the hose clamp untill you feel resistance. Then, using a pair of channel-lock pliers, squeeze the clamp by placeing the pliers against the screw and the back side of the clamp, which pushes the screw back in to the clamp. There will be a pop sound, then the clamp can be loosened and re-used. These clamps are designed for 1 time use but if removed carefully can be re-used.
