Here's what NOT to do:
I tried this once because someone on this very board suggested it. When I got out, I held the key in my hand, making sure I was touching the metal part firmly. I put the key to the car as I stepped out, the idea is that you wont feel a shock because you're already touching the key, and the shock jumps from the key to the car.
It didn't work. It did seem to amplify the shock I recieved, however.
