On my 85 740GLE the cluth is hard to push. Is there somthing wrong or is this the way Volvo made it?

85 740 GLE should be a non turbo, and clutch is cable operated. 99% of the time the problem is a binding cable. The steel cable is wrapped by a nylon tube and another steel cable housing. Odds are the nylon tube has worn through and rust and corrosion have caught up with the cable. Replace the clutch cable. It should operate with very little effort. --
