Turbo plus came as a factory installed option on late 80s early 90s 700 series turbo volvos. It was standard on all turbo 780s. It consists of a control unit (black box), relay, solenoid valve, and wiring harness. The relay and the wiring harness were integrated into the 780s, I believe... that's why I can't sell mine since I don't need it anymore :) Based on RPM and time, the system will apply a "bleed" to the wastegate signal of the turbo... allowing some of the air to escape back into the airbox and making the turbo think it's running at a lower boost than it actually is. Effectively, it increases the turbo's boost pressure from about 8 to about 13 PSI for a short period of time, providing a fairly good increase in power. However, the device costed about $800, versus a simpler manual boost controller like at www.dawesdevices.com which costs about $35.

Just checked out Dawes. Seems like a pretty straight forward application. Never heard of them before your response. Have you got any thoughts about them?

Sure, I've got a couple thoughts about 'em:

Products work great.
Easy to install.
Durable, but inexpensive.

That pretty much sums it up... I'm really happy with their boost controller and I'm looking forward to picking up an a/f ratio meter when they start selling again in September.
