You need to pull the pulsair apart while the car is running to diagnose. The rubber hoses and fittings should come apart fairly easily. If exhaust is coming out past the check valve on the air cleaner side of it then that check valve is toast. It is possible to put the check valve in backwards -the arrow on the outside points to the exhaust manifold - have you had the car serviced lately? You could try taking the check valve into the house to dry it/thaw it - maybe it is frozen open. --
