Volvo OEM Trailer Hitch[200/1990] posted by TAH on

Looking for a hitch for my '90 245 but don't want to pay new price. Found one on an '84 in a junkyard. Will it fit on my '90? Volvo shows diff listings for '74-85 & 86-93; what's the difference?
Thanks! --

You will see the difference if you compare the width of the 86-on bumper (thick) to the 85 and earlier. The receiver on the hitch for the 86 will be 2" longer. You can compensate with a longer ball mount bar of course, and they are easy to get in the 2" x 2" type, but an older hitch, say with a fixed ball mount and ball will not clear the bumper. Ask me how I found all this out. The hard way, of course.
