Clutch master and slave rebuild parts[120-130/1967] posted by Jim Lucht on

Hi Folks

Well, the clutch hydraulics finally went in my estate. They are out of the car and look like good rebuild candidates. Any suggestions for locating the necessary seals? I'm inquiring at Moss Motors, but I'm not sure yet how this will work out- they were not able to match the number on the master.

Thanks for your help.

Jim

I've seen them same slave and master cylinders on more than a handful of silly British cars, but I can't say for sure if the bores are the same...

The last time I got a rebuild kit, I got it from Checker for all of about $6....might be worth a shot, but I kinda doubt they'll be able to help you now.

I've also had pretty nominal luck with these rebuild kits..probably about a 50% success rate even with bores that looked OK. If I were you, I'd spend a little extra for either professionally rebuilt parts or brand new. You should be able to find both the slave and master brand new for somewheres around a hundred bucks, and you won't have to mess with them again for 20 or 30 years. WHite Post restoration does right fine work with the rebuilds including a lifetime warrenty. You might check them for pricing. Heck, they might even sell you a rebuild kit too. Who knows...

They are available in Europe no problem, CVI stock the original Lucas Girling part, and even now have the original alloy master cylinder cap. I think new it now comes with a plastic cap as standard.
