Start by removing the roll pin at the base of the shifter. Pull off the top half of the shift handle. Remove the reverse lock collar from the bottom. Pry out the rubber bushing at the bottom. There is another rubber bushing further up that also has to come out. The bushings have a notch in one side so remember which way the notch faces. Now you can fish your new wires down through the handle and out the hole in the side. Reassemble the bushings and reverse lock, and reinstall the shifter. The hardest part is getting the holes to line up and the roll pin reinstalled. I use a small drill bit to verify the holes are lined up then push the roll pin back in with channel-lock pliers. Volvo dealers stock or can order the O/D shifter harness. As I recall it's around 15-20 and comes with terminals for all models. The 700 series had round terminals at the car harness side, 200 series has spade terminals. I've got the job down to about 20 minutes. Probably done 10. easy. --
