You didn't mention how many miles were on your car...just that your last brake job was 35K ago. One thing no one has mentioned in this thread is the problems worn balljoints can cause on this car. They can be worn as early as 100K. The way to tell if they're shot is to see if the inner shoulder of each fron tire is worn more than the outer shoulder. The tire may also be scalloped on the inner shoulder. If they are worn in that fashion, then jack up the car, grab the wheel at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock and try to move it back and forth. If it wiggles, take a real close look to see if the strut moves during the same motion. If it does, your balljoints are very worn. If it still wiggles at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock then they are extremely worn and must be replaced very soon.
