Help Guys ! - Installing Front Rotors[850/1995] posted by Nathan Berk on

This evening I replaced the front brake pad and right front rotor - no problems!

Went to install the left front rotor ( OEM VOLVO part) and noticed it had a machined flat spot about 1.5 to 2 inches on the rotors edge.

It is a slight flat spot, and appears to have been machined in during the manufacturing process.

Is this a problem? Should I return the rotor for a new one or go ahead and install this one??

I do not see how it could in any way affect the braking.

Anyone ever see this before?

That is how the rotors are dynamically balanced, the outer rim is machined to remove metal from the heavy side. Don't worry.
