And I thought I'm the only one with that problem.
I posted a message with exactly this procedure some month ago on this board. But I can't find it in the archives.
Here is it again:
Remove the plastic part near the inner door handle.
Remove the screw under the loudspeaker.
Remove the 1 feet long 1/2" wide black rubber between interior door trim and window.
Now you should be able to lift the top part of the interior trim with the attached clips over the door metal.
The top front corner of the trim-panel is now apart and you can reach into the door.
There is a long small rod going from the door knob mechanism (top-front) to the rear door latch.
This rod is out of its black guides and probably bended.
Snap it back in the guides and you can open the door.
I removed the whole trim-panel after that. (Remove the plastics at the red door light)
You can get new black plastic guides or :
In the middle between the two black plastic guides is a oval hole.
Wrap a tie-clip through the hole and around the rod.
This will secure the rod in the guides forever.
It would be also a good idea to wrap this tie-clip around the rod whenever your panel is removed as a preventive maintenance.

Its difficult to explain without a picture.
Hope it helps.
