HELP! Weber Accelerator Pump Jet[120-130/1964] posted by Cpl Baum on

I have a Weber DGAV attached to my 1964 122 wagon. A few days ago the fuel pump crapped out. Ordered a new one from IPD (whopping $34 brand new) - back in business...BUT, in the process, I decided to clean the Weber carb a little - and noticed that fuel was DRIPPING into the passenger side venturi. I took apart the carb figuring that some sediment must be clogging the system somewhere. All cleaned, all reassembled.
A stream of petrol still gets squirted out of the Accelerator Pump Jet whenever throttled. I always thought that the petrol was supposed to be atomized. Do I need to find a replacement accelerator pump jet - or is the card performing the way it's supposed to? For this particular pump jet, there appeared to be no jet outlet on the driver's side venturi.

It seems that the accelerator pump is functioning normally.
Many carburetors of this pattern have some adjustment for this component as well, such as different holes to place a link rod into for a larger or smaller "pump shot".
The liquid fuel squirted into the carb by the pump is a gross enrichment, calculated to cover up flat spots in a vehicle's acceleration. As such, its lack of precision is accepted.

Nope, that's right.
The 'adjustment' to the pump is to change the jet- actually, the nozzle- that squirts fuel. One thing to check- does it just squirt on the primary side (the 32mm barrel)? On the DGV's, that's correct, but DGAS's and others squirt both sides, and putting a 'double- squirter' into a progressive carb can cause some strange symptoms...
If you have had drippy fuel problems, you might check the float level and the float valve, both of which can cause your problem. Also, a stuck (open) power valve will do this...
Good luck, hope this helps!
