The AWD models have more problems then the FWD models.
So, make sure you get info from AWD owners.

I have a 98 T5M FWD and have had similar problems to the ones
in the prvious post (but fewer). The driveline is very
good but there are numerous small things. However, they
were all sorted out in first 18 months and I have not had any
real problems in past 3 years.

I would avoid the 98 AWD model but would buy a 98 FWD.
