Heater Fan Came on with Ignition off![S80/2001] posted by Henry on

A friend just parked her 2 month old S80, turned off the ignition, got out, locked the car with the remote and left. She returned an hour later, could hear a noise coming from her car 70 feet away. When she opened the door, the heater fan was roaring ! She turned the fan off, put the key in the ignition and the car started normally.
How can this happen, and what's to prevent it from happening again ?
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks
Henry

The situation you described is normal. The feature is called "After Blow", 50 minutes after you shut off the ignition (if you have had the A/C on ) the fan will come on to remove any moisture that may be on the evaporator or in the climate control box. I think the fan will run for 5-7 minutes. --
