The 544/122/early 140 stripe speedo's were calibrated fast by about 4%, from the factory. Also, the original bias ply tires were much taller than the 165-15 radial or the 195/65-15 radial. I have replaced my 41:10 ring and pinion with a 43:13, and the speedo is now close to dead-on, so there was about a 16-18% error, when using the tip as the indicator.
