Use the exact right plugs, clean the surface of the block well, put a bit of loctite 515 or permatex or other gasket goo-not silicone- on the edge of the plug, place it in the hole and use a large diameter (at least 1/2 inch) punch and hammer to strike it a mighty blow in the center of the plug. Beat the center down in as few blows as possible until it as about even with the outer edge of the plug. Hit only the middle, don't try to flatten the whole thing. If you look at another plug from the factory it is kind of self explanatory- make the new one look like the old one. --
