Hi Mark,

Last year when I had to do some rust repair on the spare tire wells on my 245 I used a Bosch 4 1/2" mini grinder with a knotted wire wheel to just clean up the area and expected to have to go back and get the undercoating residue off with a solvent or whatever but as it turned out the wire wheel actually disintegrated all traces of the undercoating, so much so that I was able to use POR-15 on it after a light treatment of Marine Clean. That was over a year ago and the Por-15 is still like new. These mini grinders spin at 13,000 rpm and the wire wheel is just that...a wheel NOT a wire cup wheel. As an added benefit, with the wire wheel you get some extra reach, into places the cup wheel would not fit. By the way, SAFETY GLASSES ARE A NECESSITY, since the almost liquified undercoating shoots all over the place. Hope this helps.

Dan
