Lamp failure indicator / brake lights[900/1994] posted by Joe D on

I had the "lamp out " light on, found the brake light out on the right, so I replaced both bulbs as a pair twice. This has not corrected the problem and I could use a little help with diagnostics.
What's happening with my wagon:
Lights off, brakes on: no brake light on right, dash lamp on with brakes
Lights on, brakes off: both tail lights are on, dash lamp on at all times
Lights on, brakes on: right tail light goes out, dash lamp on at all times
Any ideas? Has this happened to anyone else?
I have a DVM and I'm familiar electricity.
Thanks
Joe D

Check the ground connections at the back: you will probably find one loose or corroded. They are very close to the lamps and are reached by removing the inner lamp assembly. --
