Re: How to remove the tumbler assembly from the ignition switch[140-160/1972] posted by George Downs on

Take off the plastic cover.
Use your Dremel Moto-Tool with abrasive cutoff disks to
slot the screws so you can unscrew them and take the ign
lock off. Take the ignition switch off the lock (you can
probably leave the wires connected).
Unscrew the two 5/16" (8mm?) slotted head screws you have
just created.
You will see that the lock cylinder is held in with a
soft steel pin. 2 choices here:
2nd: slot on both sides of it so you can grip it and
pull it out
FIRST: Carefully drill it out starting with a 1/16" drill
and clamping it WELL so you drill as straight as possible
through the pin end-to-end. Then go to successively larger
drills until you break through the wall of the pin, making
it a crescent in cross-section.
Use a jeweler's screwdriver to crush the crescent tube so you
can get hold of it with small needle-nose pliers and pull it out.
The lock should then come out. It will be a little snug in
the hole, so you may need to put a knife between the lock
and the housing to pull it out.
