Warm start problem solved[140-160/1982] posted by Mike in Cotati on

My accumulator was bad. I was told by the dealer and by several shops that the accumulator almost never goes bad. My did. As a last ditch effort to find the problem, a mechanic pulled the small hose off of the back of the accumulator and discovered a lot of fuel in the line.
So if you are having a warm start problem, disconnect the smallest hose from the accumlator (if you have the type that has three hose connections) and if a lot of fuel spills out...you have a bad accumulator. This problem will result in the same loss of fuel pressure symptom usually attributed to a bad check valve in the fuel pump.
I bought a replacement at pick n pull for about 11 dollars.
