Common problem. I'd like to see some clever person design a large strap to go around the box and secure it without the need for the clips.

Go to Home Depot and buy several of those big mutha zip ties. You can even use 'em for securing your battery to the tray.
And don't forget that you can "daisy chain" these zip ties for long-reach applications.
