Diagnotic code what MODE: mean please explain[850/1994turbo] posted by Mrsha on

I have the pocket data booklet TP 0302207 on page 233 on top it said (A1)
ok it mean transmission checking ... if I pluge into the socket hole number one on A box... this what I am checking ok ...

but here is my question on the left hand colum it said. MODE:1 and below
it have all the code 111...112.. I understand the code it explain what wrong with the car.. but MODE: ??? what MODE: ??? where is the MODE???

Next page it said MODE:2 and MODE:3 and 4 and 5 and 6 all of these mode are are still on (A1) socket?

I understand A2 mean plug in socket hole number 2... but what MODE:1

1)How do I know when I am on what MODE ????

2) How I get to MODE:1 and 6 ect...

Please explain...

few of my freind look at the book with me but we all confuse..

Mrsha-
Mode is the type of diagnosis you are asking the system to do. Mode 1 is entered by pressing the button once and waiting for the fault code to be displayed. Press the button twice and it goes into mode 2 that confirms the signal that you have entered, like moving the gear shifter and it will tell you that signal from the shifter is correctly received by the control unit. Press the button three times, and it goes through a sequence of activating components, like the shift solenoids. Mode 4 (press 4 times) you tell the control unit which component you want to activate. Mode 5 (press 5 times) is used to read out sensor values, like oil temp and gearbox RPM. Mode 6 (press 6 times) is used to reset the adaptive functions in the control unit. These are examples of trans modes. Engine modes run from 1-3, some systems don't use consecutive modes, like cruise uses 1, 2, 4, and 5. --
