The LH 3.1 system is fitted to manual transmission 91-93 240's (not CA models if I remember correctly--their rega are always tougher).
It is basically LH 2.4 but with a film type air mass meter. Film type AMM's are slower responding to air flow changes so a throttle position sensor is used in place of the throttle switch.
TPS gives the LH ECU a signal that indicates how fast and how much throttle is opened so the ECU can respond w/o the AMM signal during acceleration.
