There were B23ET motors with a Bosch ignition that did cylinder cancelling via individual cyl shutoff for traction control.
This didn't fly in the USA.
It was on the list of things you don't do to your catalytic converter if you love it.
The centrifugal rev limter shorting ignition rotor was another of these things the cat-less Europeans got that we didn't get in the States.

Hmm.. Question?

How is this different from the current DSA system on the S/V40's and the aftermarket Racelogic system?

They also shut down injector(s) for a number of cycles to reduce engine power or did the old system only stop spark in a cylinder? That would dump unburnt fuel into the exhaust.. Not good..

BTW.. The Racelogic settable rev-limiter with clutch switch is a cool idea. Full throttle shifts :-)

Ignition cut-out leaves injected fuel unburnt. DSA is igntion retard and random injection shut-off, no unburnt fuel left over in this case.
