Annoying Gauge Illumination[200/83ti] posted by Rod on

Okay, this is something that has bugged me for a long time. I can't stand the blue illumination on my dash gauges. It is too dark. In particular, at night I can hardly see the boost and oil pressure gauges.

But what can be done? I've checked the bulbs and they are "white" so that means there is a blue filter in the gauge somewhere...but how does one open those VDO gauge housings?

Anyone ever tried changing this?

Thanks.

It ain't easy..I used a small screwdriver to bend the outer ring a bit and it came off...there is a vey light blue gelatin filter behind the gauge dial face...you must remove the 2 screws that secure the dial to the gauge mechanism and carefully cut away the blue filter w/ a small scissors, then it is quite bright.
