Hello:

In my owners manual it states as follows: Maximum trailer weight recommended by Volvo is * Trailers without brakes: 1100lbs (500kg),
* Trailers with brakes: 2000lbs (908kg), * Max tongue load: 110lbs (50kg).

Then goes on to say, for gradients over 12% or at heights over 3000ft (1000m). Deduct 220lbs from the maximum permitted trailer weight for each add. 1500ft or each add. % gradient.

Later it mentions that if the 2000lb weight is exceeded, to use only a hitch offered as a genuine Volvo Accessory.

Also, in the Specifications section, it backs up the 1100lbs and 2000lbs weight limits.
