Re: Transmission "shudder"[V70/1998] posted by Lance Hansel on

I have had problems with vibrations and shudders in my V70 AWD. After many days in the shop, discussions with two Volvo engineers, it seems that Volvo considers this "normal", "acceptable", or "raod feel". I attempted to provide the dealer and Volvo with more info about the conditions that the vibration is felt. I noticed that it seems to be related to the torque converter operating. The dealer passed the info on to the Volvo Technical Support group who responded "no one else has complained about this". Because of the opinions of Volvo's two "expert" field engineers the dealer will not investigate this any further. I would like all of those people who exsperienced vibrations and shudders in their x70 series vehicles to call Volvo customer support (800-458-1552) and let them know, also fill out the consumer defects survey at the NHTSA site (link below). Let the goverment know, maybe we can get Volvo to understand that this is a real problem and in no way "normal", or "acceptable".
