can't get above 2500rpm[200/85] posted by Fred K on

whats the problem? After running the car for about 20 minutes, well after it is at operating temp (according to the temp gauge) then the car loses all power. can't make it past 2500. sometimes though, it backfires and then drives fine for 10 seconds or so. Can get it to run right if i can get past 3500 down a steep hill, but lose of power returns as soon as i shift up and load is put on. at a stop, the more gas, the worse it gets. perfect idle, and perfect operation if less than a 10 mile trip.
Checked vacuum lines on intake, fuel lines, leaks after AMM, major ground points, air filter, fuel injectors. plugs look slightly yellow, normal amount of deposits. what do you think? thanks, fred

Try disconnecting the oxygen sensor lead. If the sensor is faulty it can make the system go lean if the signal in from the sensor is falsely indicating rich. The heater circuit can bleed into the signal out and result in the signal out being over the 1 V. The fuel system begins to decrease injector opening time to lean fuel mixture any time the voltage exceeds 0.5 V. The signal wire is a white connector on the RH firewall covered by a bell shaped black rubber cover. The wire is green on the white connector side and black on the bell cover side.
