Could still be deposit buildup in the transmission, could also be worn hydraulic pump/low pressure/bad seal, etc. etc. Only way to tell for sure is to instrument the trans and check fluid pressures...see your local trans shop.

Short of that, and assuming this happened alluvasudden vice creeping up on you, check the kickdown cable...not unknown to have a sticking or misadjusted cable or something. If cable is sticking it will hold the trans in gear longer......

Been there with the sticking cable. Causes all kinds of funny behavior. Replaced mine recently in my '88 745T. Not a hard job, but working in the confined space around where the cable comes out of the tranny is a bit of a PITA. Still have to adjust the tension to get the 2-3 shift where it should be, but everything else is working fine.

One tip concerning removing the oil filler tube. Some people have posted experience with the fittings being stuck and stripping the threads on the oil pan. Don't want to go there. Mine were stuck, so I removed the pan and filler tube as a unit. Had to unbolt the starter to do this since the filler tube support is held by the starter bolts. With the car on ramps, I was able to drop the pan and slide the pan/filler tube assembly out from under the car. Just make sure the pan is fully drained. It helps to lower the pan onto a bucket to allow it to drain the rest of the way once the pan is level.

Good luck, --
