Several months ago I posted a procedure for replacing the seal and bushing. The procedure is in the archives -- read it by clicking this link. It may be useful if you're thinking of the full job.

More recently, Steve Seekins informed us that Volvo sells a special tool to extract and replace the bushing without removing the tailshaft housing.
