oil sending unit wires[200/1984] posted by Jim Haffner on

I have an '84 DL which just has the idiot lights. I found a turbo car at the wreckers with the oil and volt gauges in it. I also got the oil sending unit. It has two prongs on it. The wire diagram I have shows the green wire from the gauge going to the sending unit, but there is suppose to be a black wire from the sending unit going to where I don't know. The wire diagram doesn't show where this wire goes. I have a Bently and Haynes manual and both are a grid type diagram. Does any one know where this black wire from the sending unit goes? Also has anyone done this before? And if so is there anything I need to know to make these gauges work.
Thanks,
Jim at JMandJD@juno.com

I think that is your existing idiot light wire terminal. That way you have both the gauge and the light functional.
