Two words - "Power Stage".
It's the piece of crap that is held in place by two screws to the
body of the car. It sits to the left of the battery and has wiring
plug attached to it. This inferior part has been Achilles heel of
VOLVOs and SAABs for over 15 years. I know, I been messing
with them for years.
Tape some Styrofoam (I.E. Coffee cup) over it and see if it helps.
This should help insulate if from the heat.
If the appears to get better, buy another "Power Stage" aka "Ignition Module"
and replace it. Approx. $ 75.
