I'm sorry but I feel a need to disagree on a couple points. I cannot
feel much difference in my 242GT being noseheavy since doing the Converse
conversion. My car does have Konis & IPD springs. At very high (racing) speeds it will understeer more, or push if you will, going into corners. Also I feel my car is much more valuable to a larger audience
than before. Only a select few want to drive an anemic underpowered
car on a daily basis. The swap has made the car a ball to drive & has
gained respect with several vintage racing types that got eaten up alive
at a race weekend this summer. It's so nice to beat someone who's car has
cost 25 to 30 thou. more than yours. In closing, I'd recommend taking
a look at the CONVERSEENGINEERING webpage and read the car & driver reprint (April'97). The gent who did the swap on my car before I bought
it had the same kind of misgivings regarding butchering a 1st year GT.
But he was very glad he did & so am I. --
Sincerely, Cris Baur
