To prevent the seal spring from getting out of position during installation, pack the area around it with grease.
When installing the seal, it may be good idea not to have it "sit"
in the exact spot as before since it's probably warn off.
Install the seal either a bit before, or a bit after the old spot.
Use a piece of PVC piping of the same diameter to bang it in place.
