shuttering and squeeling in lower gears[700/1988] posted by thomas j. houghtaling on

My 230FTand M46 combination with 146.5k intermittantly exhibits shuttering and squeeling in first and occasionally second gear. The clutch is original and hence naturally suspect although no slippage of any sorts has been observed in higher gears on hills, under boost or otherwise. Would someonoe be so kind as to confirm my suspicions or offer insight as to other mechanical components that could possibly contribute in causing such a contemptible condition?

One way clutch in rear of tailhousing of overdrive. Highest torque in lowest gears. The one way clutch is what pulls car forward (with a little help from the inside of cone clutch) until you are in overdrive.
