The real fix is to use bulbs with a glass base. The Volvo bulbs are still the plastic base versions. If you go to a few parts stores you will be able to find a 3157A bulb with the glass base. I think Sylvania is the manufacturer, but I'm not sure.
The real shame is that European 70 series don't use the same socket. They use the good ole 1157A bulbs with the round metal bases. Their sockets won't fit a USA lamp assy. either. The park lights over there are not in lamps but are in headlights.
