Ya big lug nut![200/91] posted by Vinny Rajcula on

Hi Folks,
Seems as though the person who owned the car before me was the mighty Hulk. I have one broken lug bolt and one that is stripped on my 240. Anyone ever change the bolts? Easy to do? Special tools needed? Thanks in advance!

Hi Vinny
You have to remove the rotor from the car and place on a steady surface
like your garage floor. Than you simply hammer the bolts out with a
heavy hammer theyre splinesmounted. The new ones you bought from your
friendly volvo dealer you put in the freezer for an hour before hammering
them in.

Good luck

Or even easier........... just use the lug nut itself to draw the stud into the flange. Put an oversize nut (or a stack of big washers) over the stud first (sorta like a sleeve). The lug nut can bear down on it as you tighten down.

And try to line up the splines of the new stud with the existing grooves in the flange. If you chew up the grooves -- enlarging the hole-- you might need to tack weld the stud in place (as I've had to do). --
