Wiper Arm Slip-nut[200/86] posted by Aunt Nattie on

Just when we get some rain after 3 wks of sun, my PITA starboard wiper arm decides to flop/slip. The nut refuses to tighten up enough for more than two full swipes thus causing the wiper arm to beat up my hood/cowel/fender. I've wire brushed the bolt to remove corrosion. Short of putting a 3 ft cheater bar on the nut, what more can I do? --

Been THERE...done THAT...

Locktite will work, but I also recommend purchasing some new shoulder nuts with a "serrated" surface on the mating face. This face will grip the wiper arm flat surface.

Clean all the parts well (dirt and metal slivers), smear some loctite around, pop the wiper arms on and tighten down the NEW nuts well.

Worked for me. Even in ice. --
