Re: What brakes do turbos have in USA models ?[V70/98] posted by Ray Niblett on

Europe gets a T5 and T5R. The T5R has bigger brakes and a
viscous coupled (limited slip) differential. Speedo goes to
a 160 MPH too (according to photos I have seen). Front
spoiler is a bit different and I think it produces a
bit more power (250 HP vs 236).
The brakes on my S70T5 are identical to my wifes' 95 850 GLT
(non-turbo). The brake booster units are different, though
(between our two cars).

850 T-5R has the same brakes as all other 850's!
T-5R has 240hp/330Nm and no viscous diff..
850R has 250hp/350Nm and a M59 gearbox with viscous diff..
For the S/V70 T5 there are demands on some markets that it should be possible to mount 15" wheels and then it's impossible to use the standard Europe S/V70 T5 and R 16" brakes!
S/V70R 97/98 was produced in four versions.
S/70R FWD aut. with ~240hp and 330Nm (same as S/V70 T5 aut.!).
S/V70R FWD M59 viscous diff. with 250hp and 350Nm.
V70R AWD aut. with ~240hp and 310Nm.
V70R AWD M58 with 250hp and 350Nm.
-99 R was only made as V70R AWD aut. with ~250hp and 310Nm.
Take care
