Here are the instructions from the Volvo factory service manual:

Replacing mirror glass

Remove:

Press in the mirror glass on one side as far as possible. Insert a screwdriver and press on one of the hooks holding the mirror upright. Pull the mirror out. Disconect terminal pin (heated glass).

(There's a diagram that shows the use of the screwdriver on the upper mirror hook. The inside edge of the mirror is shown pressed into the housing, and the screwdriver is inserted at the outer edge.)
